So where are we……… We have less than 6 weeks to go before we fly off to Morocco and to be honest the only thing I am looking forward to is the 5 days of sunshine !
My training is going well, I was out at 9.00am this Saturday morning in the New Forest getting acclimatized in the -3 degrees temperature. My boots fit well and are really comfortable as is the rucksack. I loaded up the rucksack with 3 litres of water, lunch and some clothing to start to get used to wearing the pack.
I spent four hours stomping around in the New Forest bog and got absolutely filthy……its great being a kid again. What was good was the hill training that I inadvertently found on my walk. This was good for a bit of cardio training and got the legs burning. I intend to go back again next Saturday to walk for around 6/7 hours.
I have been going to the gym 4/5 times a week, concentrating on my cardio and legs. Popped down Sunday morning and 40 minutes into my training, having warmed up for 20 minutes on a spin bike, I harmlessly started some travelling lunges and……..ping.a sharp pain starts shooting through my right thigh muscle……GREAT.
What was strange is I can only feel the pain when I try and do a lunge……so don’t do lunges then stupid!. I carefully do a light walk on the treadmill and no pain. Sitting on the sofa, Sunday night writing this blog, I can feel a slight twinge in my leg, so I will have to be careful over the next few days………anyone know a physio.
Sponsorship is moving upwards, we got 2 more corporate sponsors this week, Coffin Mew Solicitors and Waterco Europe so that’s another £400, so a massive thank you to both, but we still need more people….come on, I am the one in pain here so get your wallets out and help us reach our target.
I now need to concentrate on getting all my kit together. I have most things, but like any trip you take, you need all the little nik naks like toothpaste and sun cream and I’ve gotta get me one of those snazzie hats that Steve got in his previous post. I would only need the whip and I could be Indiana Jones.
So I will continue my training and watching for aches and pains, as I don’t want to start this trek carrying an injury and you guys and girls can sit on your sofa’s or office chairs, sipping on your tea and coffee……in the warmth.
But I will ask you one thing….. Could you do more to help us ?
WE NEED YOU !!!
The Rainbow Centre NEEDS YOU!
We will do the hard part, the training, the walking but you can do the easy part direct from your sofa or office help us and donate
