Have I really been roped into spending 5 days walking for up to 8 hours a day in the Sahara desert……..sharing a tent with a guy I hardly know…god I hope he doesn’t snore !!
The Sahara desert is known as one of the harshest places on the planet…..am I mad? Well if u ask anyone who knows me.. they would all say … yes he’s mad.
So why do it? Well a friend of mine said he was bored of attending raffles, treasure hunts and skittles evening…all in aid of a good cause. Not that there is anything wrong with these but he wanted to do a challenge…something that would raise thousands of pounds and not hundreds….and push him physically and mentally! Sounds like fun.. I’ m in.
But truthfully we are doing this for the Rainbow Centre. As we have stated before, they are an amazing local charity that help children who have cerebral palsy…kids like little Felix
Felix has been attending the centre for just over a year and is growing in strength and confidence. He has transverse cerebral palsy which means his left arm and right leg are the weaker limbs. He is learning to walk with a walker and is a demon tricyclist!
So lets be honest walking in the Sahara desert is going to be tough but its nothing in relation to fight that little Felix has for the rest of his life….. that’s why I am doing it.
And you can get involved. No I don’t expect you to come and walk with me…you can if you want…but you can do the easy part. You can firstly follow our blog by clicking on one of the links below..and then you can open that wallet or purse of yours dig out that visa card and give us a donation…
