Yet again a big thank you goes out to Mark & Ben and from ilovedust for their very kind sponsorship of £250.00 towards our Sahara Desert trek in aid of the Rainbow Centre in Fareham.
Wow! We passed £4,000. Thanks you so much from us and the Rainbow Centre for all the donations, which are crucial to maintain the vital service the Rainbow Centre provides every day.
Not wanting to rest at that level, we have decided to up the ante and raise at least £6,000 before we embark on our Sahara adventure.
You can now follow us on Facebook and Twitter.
We have set up both these social media sites, so it makes it easier for you to follow our progress before and during our trek. You can also follow the Rainbow Centre @rainbowcentre for up to date news on the centre and fundraising events.
For all you Sahara Trek followers, firstly thank you for showing an interest in our blog, adventure and ultimately in the Rainbow Centre.
Trekking through the Sahara Desert may not be your cup of tea, and to be honest I don’t blame you. But you may be interested in some of the other events that The Rainbow centre run throughout the year. So if you play golf, want to take part in Dragon boat racing or just fancy getting dressed up for a gala ball, then they have an event for you.
Thank you to Simon and all the staff at K&S Aerospace Components who have committed to sponsor us £200 towards our Sahara Charity Trek.
Steve and I are both very grateful to all our corporate sponsors who are making this trip possible. Your commitment to our us and The Rainbow Centre will mean the children there will have a much brighter future.
So where are we……… We have less than 6 weeks to go before we fly off to Morocco and to be honest the only thing I am looking forward to is the 5 days of sunshine !
My training is going well, I was out at 9.00am this Saturday morning in the New Forest getting acclimatized in the -3 degrees temperature. My boots fit well and are really comfortable as is the rucksack. I loaded up the rucksack with 3 litres of water, lunch and some clothing to start to get used to wearing the pack.
Can you believe it was 21 years ago that The Rainbow Centre was started. So 2012 is going to be a great year for them and we intend to help them by raising as much money as we can, so that the Rainbow Centre can continue helping all those amazing kids.
After spending 5 days trekking through the Sahara Desert, I am sure we will have aches and pains. We may well be in need of a massage and some rest, but after that we will be back on our feet. That’s easy for us to say, because like most of you we take walking for granted. The children that attend The Rainbow Centre may take months even years to learn to walk and may never to able to walk without assistance.
